Homeopathy is a gentle, individualised system of medicine that has been used around the world for more than 230 years.
It is different from other systems of medicine because it focuses on the whole person, rather than focusing solely on symptoms, and is based on the principle that the body has its own capacity to heal.
It can be used alongside pharmaceutical medications and can be used by people of all ages, including babies, children and older adults.
Every person is different. Every experience is individual. And that is at the heart of homeopathy.

The Principle of ‘Like Cures Like’
Homeopathy is based on the principle of ‘like cures like’. In other words, a substance which causes certain symptoms when taken in its crude form and in large amounts can, when prepared as a homeopathic remedy, be used in small amounts to address similar symptoms.
For example, an onion in its crude form can cause watery eyes and a runny nose. In homeopathy, the remedy Allium cepa (onion) may be considered when someone experiences similar symptoms.
The Individualised Approach
One of the things that makes homeopathy different is its individualised approach.
Homeopathy looks at the whole person, rather than simply focusing on a named condition or an individual symptom. During a consultation, your homeopath takes time to understand you and build a complete picture of your health and wellbeing.
This may include looking at your physical symptoms, how you experience them, your emotional wellbeing, your lifestyle, your medical history and other individual characteristics that may form part of your overall picture.
No two people are exactly the same, and the way they experience their symptoms can be very different. This is why two people with the same condition or similar symptoms may be prescribed different homeopathic remedies.
